High Country Response
Serving as the connection point between responders and the support they need by providing immediate response, peer support, and trusted resources whenever it matters most.
About the project • Where we started
Location: Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Timing: March 2026 – July 2026
Scope: Brand strategy, brand identity, theory of change
When High Country Response first approached us, they had already built something meaningful.
What started in 2016 as a peer-support initiative created by first responders had grown into a trusted resource for responders and their families across the region. Their work had expanded beyond their original focus, including peer support, clinical connections, community crisis response, and wellness programming.
But their brand no longer reflected where they were headed.
Their name, Routt County Crisis Support, represented where the organization began, but it limited how people understood the work they were doing today. It tied them to a single geography and emphasized crisis response, while their impact had grown into something much broader: creating trusted pathways to support for responders and their families.
They needed a brand that could honor their roots while creating room for growth.
Together, we developed a new brand strategy, theory of change, name, and visual identity that better reflected who they were, what made their approach unique, and where they wanted to go next.
Our approach • Foundation and building clarity
Before changing a name or creating a new visual identity, we focused on understanding the heart of the organization.
Through the brand strategy process, we helped High Country Response articulate the deeper story behind their work: why responder support requires a different approach, what barriers prevent people from seeking help, and how trust is built through peer connection and immediate response.
The process helped them move beyond a list of programs and define the transformation they create. Their theory of change connected their unique model — peer support, immediate response, and culturally competent resources — to the long-term outcomes they want for responders, families, departments, and communities.
That clarity informed every strategic decision that followed, including the name change and visual identity.
The new brand gave them language that better represented their current work and created space for future growth throughout the High Country region.
Why it matters: Their brand needed to reflect not only where they started, but where they were going.
Our approach • Architecture and building shared ownership
A strong brand is only valuable when the people connected to the organization know how to use it.
As part of this work, we helped High Country Response bring the new brand strategy to life internally through board training and communication tools.
We developed communication scripts to help leadership and supporters clearly explain who High Country Response is, what they do, and why their model matters. We also provided board training to create alignment around the new direction and equip board members to confidently represent the organization in their communities.
This helped ensure the new brand was not just a new name and logo, but a shared understanding that the entire organization could carry forward.
Why this matters: A sustainable brand requires shared understanding and ownership across the organization.
The outcome
High Country Response did not need a brand that simply looked different. They needed a brand that accurately represented the organization they had become and created space for where they were headed next.
Through this work, they moved from a name and identity tied to their original beginnings into a brand that communicates their broader role in supporting responders and their families. Their new strategy gives leadership, board members, and community partners a clearer way to understand the organization, share its story, and support its growth.
“BrandRaise helped us hone in on what we do with clarity. I really appreciated the deep dive into understanding our work and mission/vision. The team was personable, diligent, accessible, communicative, and responsive throughout the process. They kept us on track and supported us when we needed clarification.”
